The Project
The CAT project will produce an ICT-based teacher training course incorporating original material already available in the different partner countries. The University of Education Heidelberg (Germany), University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd (Germany), University of Helsinki (Finland), National Institute for Educational Research (France), University of Plovdiv (Bulgaria) and University of Patras (Greece) have developed CAT material within scientifically driven and supported projects, which will be implemented in the courses. Moreover, on the basis of educational practices when CAT environments are used, the theoretical criteria and guidelines of the courses will be established
The working process will be organised two steps:
- Year 1: survey on the actual conditions in the different countries, development of the course contents. General course design commences.
- Year 2: Detailed design, testing in practice and evaluation of the teacher training course.
Initially, the survey on the actual “local culture” regarding the application of computer aided learning environments in the different participating countries, was carried out, providing fundamental data for the future course. These results will be published internationally. Based on these results and on the already available best practice examples, the production of training material will be organised within an intercultural communication process during the lifetime of the project. These products will be made freely available through the project’s website and with a handbook.
